T for Tuesday B for Busy H for Ha ha!

So I'm joining Elizabeth for T for Tuesday, by showing you my sexy new kettle.  After 15 years of loyal boiling, the other one just faded out and it's quite exciting to get a replacement anything...specially when you live with a chap who can mend stuff.  The other kettle had it's life extended by some months, so we're both happy - he because it took longer to part with more kettle money than I thought it would and me because I've got a new kettle that works without encouragement, swearing or resorting to the boiling of pans.  I'm a 21st century gal me.  That and that sexy blue light that illuminates the boiling water pleases me no end.

And here's one of the busy busy shots....good grief..you can't get the nozzle tops off glue bottles when you want to unclog them can you?  You practically have to resort to prayers and pliers.  So imagine my surprise, language and horror when I tried a test spot of this Cosmic Shimmer glue. The visible nozzle was clear, so I gave it a regular squeeze (as opposed to an irregular squeeze) and look - the damn thing shot off and left me with an indecent puddle.  Of course, I cleaned up, took out the offending lump of glue that was just under the surface and had caused the eruption, and started in earnest.
And it happened again.  Good thing I had the presence of mind to take pictures, huh! Gah, I was a little cross.  I had to re-cut ten umbrellas!  So there we are. Tuesday is shaping up to be a similar shambles of mixing 'real' work with 'domestic' work and craft 'work'.  Hmm, whilst I'm sorting out the priorities, I may have to re-boil the kettle.

I'm loving the sexy kettle, I would so have one of those but I can't use them, too heavy. I have to use an un-sexy travel kettle!! Pink splodge looked fab until I read it wasn't supposed to, thought you trying a new messy thing but no. Yep pesky glue, requires pins and luck. Take care Zo xx

I have sad news to impart... your sexy new kettle with the blue light is not going to last 15 years like your old one... I have had 3 of them in under a decade! :( They just don't make stuff to last anymore (and news for Mr Dunnit, they don't make them fixable either)!! LOL
I was admiring your pink splodge until I realised that it was a mistake! I thought you were going to be clever and squeeze it through a stencil or something equally arty farty!! Shame about the brollies... though it might add some dimension and look like heavy rain? ;)

That IS a sexy tea pot. The blue light is ubber cool.
Such a bummer about the messed up umbrellas. I think I would have had to walk away for a while and perhaps pour a little something stronger than tea. :)
Happy Tuesday!

As shameful as it might sound, and even after having a very British grandmother's influence, I've never owned a tea kettle. Your new one looks lovely. I like the shape. Now all you have to do is add water and wait.

I've never heard of that glue, but your testimonial and photos are enough to steer all of us clear of it. You have no idea how much influence you have on us, and I'm sure many who read about the defenseless, unsuspecting umbrellas will not be buying it!

Thanks for sharing T today. Don't cuss too loudly. Think instead about that lovely new tea pot.

BTW, that is NOT lavender, but the blossoms on Mexican Sage. It just so happens it's a decorative plant, not an herbal one.

more tea is definitely called for! i know getting glue unclogged is a major pain, but glue explosions yikes! i'm sad it ruined those cute umbrellas. rain is predicted here today, and i'm disposed to like umbrellas :)

What a wonderful post. Sorry but I did have a little chuckle. At least you kept going. Love the new kettle, very sexy. Oh and I am married to one of those men that like to repair stuff instead of getting something new... I know just how you feel.

I used to have that kettle and I loved the background light it was helpful for seeing what I was doing if up in the night making a cup of tea.
I really felt for you with the glue mess it ends up such a waste and a sticky mess to boot

Love your glam new kettle! Shame about your rogue glue - what a bummer with the umbrellas - they look fab by the way!

I love your kettle. I got an electic metallic red one several years ago, and love it! About the glue mess. It just happened with me and TimHoltz dabber! They have a little roller, but some how the whole stinking thing came off and I had acrylic paint puddle. Well, I nixed the project I was doing. I wasn't even interested anymore because of the wasted paint! I am glad I am not alone in messes like this! TFS
See you for WOYWW

Enjoy your new kettle - I am still loving my lime green one that I bought earlier in the year. It too has a lovely blue light whilst 'doing its stuff'.

Kettles are strange things - I've had a number of quite expensive well know brands over the years but the one that lasted the longest was a Woolworths bargain range one that cost a fiver LOL

Oh dear, I'm so sorry to hear about your glue frustrations. Yes, I definitely think you should console yourself with a cup of tea from your space-age new taepot. Happy T Day!

Hi Julia, your new kettle is indeed a joy to behold, pretty colour. I've been eyeing up a rather swish black number for my new kitchen but my old white one looks as though it will go on forever :)

The glue is a pretty colour too - I thought you were doing something crafty with paint. Sadly not.

Sorry not to be joining in WOYWW at the moment, packing takes precedence over everything else. Will be back as soon as I can :)

Hugs, Elizabeth xx

Drooling over your kettle Julia! Love the lines of it. Mine is Braun and about 11 years old. I am wondering when it will buy the farm! Love your umbrellas! I had a bottle top come off one of my paints and had purple everywhere.

Loving that new kettle - funnily enough my little $7 jug is getting a bit old and I am looking for a "brushed stanless steel" model to match my toaster and kenwood mixing bowl and oven front LOL... feeling very sophisticated LOL... Oh and bottle with nlocked nozzles - glitter glue usually - I always end up using my teeth to get them open and I can tell you the stuff tastes disgusting ... yeach - Have a great week - Mxx

Your kettle looks 'hot'. Love the color. Cute umbrellas would love to see the project once it is completed.

goodness, that's quite a pink puddle...I too seem to have difficulties with my glue clogging so no wonder this was a surprise. And lovely kettle...
